FAQs

What is the Casual Recreational Amateur Pinball League?

C.R.A.P. is first & foremost a social event. Each league season is comprised of 10 meetups. We will keep your best 8 scores over the weeks. During meetups, each group is assigned 4 games. Players within a group play each game together and scores are recorded on the official score sheet for that group. Points are awarded for each game based on how players score compared to other players in their group. Bonus points are also awarded based on the total points each player accumulated for all four games.

Can we goof off the whole time?

Basic rules of courtesy apply. Do not touch a machine when it’s someone else’s turn. When your turn comes up, be ready to play. If you need to step away for a moment, let your group know where you are and when you’ll be back. Tilting your ball imposes no penalty other than that imposed by the machine (usually loss of ball and bonus). “Slam tilting” the machine, however, will cause you to forfeit that game; multiple violations may cause you to forfeit the season!

What formats will we play?

Mostly match play, but wacky formats (stall ball, pingolf, split flipper, etc.) may appear randomly.

Did you make these rules up?

We will be referencing Free State Pinball Association’s League Guide but ultimately referring to Patrick Pietras’ & Dominique Scott’s judgement as League Directors.

Why does this cost money?

Prizes will be awarded to top performers of the season & the final tournament. Your entry fee will 100% go into the prize pool. Transmission Arcade will also be matching the prize pool & providing goodies.

Will everyone be better than me?

This is a casual league, hence the name. At the start of the season, players will be assigned into groups of 3 or 4 people, based on historical or estimated ability. You compete only with your group-mates for league points. At the end of each week, the group winner will move up a group, and the low scorer in the group will move down. This group movement “bubbles” players into groups of similar skill, and also ensures you’ll get to meet and play against many different people through the season.

What if I miss a meetup?

We meet every week for 10 weeks - that’s a lot of pinball! We will keep & score your best 8 meetups. You can earn bonus points by participating in other sanctioned events around the state. During the league season, players may earn partial league points by competing in a tournament at Bang Back Pinball Lounge, Fellowship of the Silver Ball, or The Break.
